Birmingham Children's Hospital
At MF Engineered Solutions Ltd, we take immense pride in our role as the principal Mechanical & Electrical contractor for the refurbishment of the Birmingham Children's Hospital Emergency Department CT Scanner suite.
This £850K project is part of a larger £2.4 million upgrade aimed at enhancing the hospital's capabilities to deliver critical care efficiently and effectively.
Our team was tasked with the comprehensive provision of mechanical and electrical services. This involved the installation of a high-performance HTM compliant Air Handling Unit, complete with sophisticated ductwork and pipework services designed to service chilled and low temperature hot water coils. By utilising our extensive expertise in HVAC refurbishment, we ensured that the installation met stringent health and safety standards, while also being energy efficient.
In addition to the air handling unit, we meticulously installed specialist medical gas services tailored to the unique requirements of the emergency department.
These services included oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical air, vacuum, and an anaesthetic gas scavenging system, all delivered through area valve service units.
Furthermore, we handled the primary and secondary electrical services necessary for the CT scanner, mechanical plant, and all associated equipment.
Our installations encompassed primary and secondary containment, small power, data services, and vital lighting services. We also integrated a robust fire alarm and security system, along with nurse call systems and backup services, including IPS and UPS, ensuring that the facility remains operational during critical moments.
The project was characterised by a detailed coordinated operation, engaging closely with the client and key stakeholders to maintain timelines and uphold our unwavering commitment to quality.
